Research Interests
Our general interest is in the development of the vertebrate skeleton. A long-term goal is to uncover the molecular cues underlying various aspects of skeletal morphogenesis, including fate determination of osteoblasts and chondrocytes, coordination of the differentiation of different cell types and cartilage angiogenesis. Current projects range from studying known signaling molecules such as Hedgehogs and Wnts, to identifying novel osteogenic or chondrogenic molecules by systematic means. Principle experimental approaches include mouse genetics, mouse ES cell technology and use of mesenchymal stem cells.Education and Honors
