Research
I am working on the effect of estrogen replacement therapy on the oxidative metabolism of estrogen. Endogenous estrogen is metabolized mainly through the inactive 2-hydroxylation and active 16-a hydroxylation pathway. Currently, I am trying to find out if there is a preferential metabolism of exogenously administered estrogen in postmenopausal women on estrogen/hormone replacement therapy. Secondly, I am also interested in finding out if we use these oxidative products of estrogen metabolism to predict response to estrogen/hormone replacement therapy.
