Clinical Fellowship Application Information

Thank you for your interest in a clinical fellowship position in
endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism in the Division of
Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research at Washington University
School of Medicine. Applications for July 1, 2010, will be accepted
through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)

Our program will begin downloading applications for the 2010 training year on
December 1, 2008. Applications for four first-year positions will
be accepted and participation in the National Resident Match Program
(NRMP) will begin with July 1, 2010, positions. All positions
have been filled for July 1, 2009 start date.
Interviews will be conducted to select four (4) first year fellows based on academic accomplishment and proven clinical skills. The period of training is for not less than two years; three years are strongly recommended.
J1 visas and H1 transfer visas are considered depending on the availability of funding sources each year.
Qualifications for admission to the fellowship program include the successful completion of a three year program in internal medicine, and US citizenship or a valid visa. Graduates of foreign medical schools must provide proof of having passed the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certifying examinations.
Applications must include:
- Completed Universal Application (ERAS Common Application form)
- Personal statement including description of career plans
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical School Transcript
- USMLE transcript
- ECFMG status report for foreign medical graduates
- Dean's letter of recommendation for internship
- At least three (3) letters of recommendation including one letter from the Chief of your clinical services or your thesis advisor
- A letter from your former research mentor is requested if you have prior research experience

- Mid-late June 2008 - ERAS 2009 Fellowship Applicant User Guide will
be available for PDF download on the AAMC website. For your
convenience, it is also available
. - July 1, 2008 - MyERAS website opens to applicants to begin working on applications.
- November 15, 2008 - Applicants may apply to programs
- December 1, 2008 - ERAS PostOffice opens to programs for downloading applications
- December 1, 2008 - Interviews begin
- January 1, 2009 - NRMP opens for applicant and program registration
- February 28, 2009 - Interviews end
- April 9, 2009 - Ranking opens for applicants and programs
- June 4, 2009 - Ranking closes for applicants and programs
- June 18, 2009 - Match Day (match results can be obtained from the NRMP website)
- July 1, 2010 - Fellowship training begins
