Hongsuk Park was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He graduated school at the University of Utah, where he earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering in 2015 under the guidance of Dr. You Han Bae. His Ph. D. work focused on developing combinatorial gene constructs delivered by a polymeric gene carrier to treat obesity. He joined Irfan Lodhi’s laboratory in 2015 to study the role of peroxisomal biogenesis in lipid metabolism.
Peroxisome plays a critical role in lipid metabolism. My research involves the use of peroxisomal biogenesis-specific knockout mouse models to study the role of peroxisomes with regards to lipid metabolism and glucose metabolism.
